The Server is installed on your Windows PC and adds a special driver. The Client is what’s installed on your Android-based HMD (Quest/Pico/Focus 3). There are a couple of things that could go wrong in the setup. If you have trouble pairing an HMD with a PC station, this guide is for you. 1. Make sure SteamVR is up and running. Right after restarting SteamVR, it should be stating “Headset Not Detected”. If you are seeing an attached HMD – get it physically disconnected and close all other streaming software and apps 2. Make sure the QuarkXR driver is installed: If “CloudXRRemoteHMD” is blocked – you have to unblock it and restart SteamVR. If “CloudXRRemoteHMD” is not on the list at all: 3. Make sure the Android HMD has a green dot under the “Your Arcade” page. If that’s not the case: If neither is the case, plug the HMD to a PC running MobileFuel. Under MobileFuel 4. If you suffer from constant QuarkXR disconnects, please check your HMD is connected to a 5Ghz WiFi network. If the HMD is connected on 2.4Ghz, this could very likely cause frequent drops with just 2 or 3 connected HMDs. If your 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz networks have the same SSID name, the Quest tends to randomly switch between them. A good practice is to name the SSIDs differently and let the Quest keep connected only to the 5Ghz network. Please let me know if that is applicable to your setup.

QuarkXR consists of two parts – Server and Client.

If you are seeing an attached HMD – get it physically disconnected and close all other streaming software and apps

2. Make sure the QuarkXR driver is installed:

If “CloudXRRemoteHMD” is blocked – you have to unblock it and restart SteamVR.

If “CloudXRRemoteHMD” is not on the list at all:

  1. Under the “Synthesis Access Point” go to “Settings >> SteamVR Settings” and enable the option [Disable SteamVR Auto Start]
  2. Close SteamVR and make sure it’s not running
  3. Download the Windows installer: https://svr.li/quarkxr/pc
  4. Use 7zip (download) to extract the file and run the installer
  5. Install/Repair QuarkXR
  6. Start SteamVR and check if “CloudXRRemoteHMD” is now in there
  7. If you had to enable (tick) the [Disable SteamVR Auto Start] option, turn it back off.

3. Make sure the Android HMD has a green dot under the “Your Arcade” page.

If that’s not the case:

  • Ensure SynthesisVR is running on the HMD
  • Ensure the HMD is on the same LAN network as your SynthesisVR Proxy

If neither is the case, plug the HMD to a PC running MobileFuel. Under MobileFuel

  • Apply any pending SynthesisVR updates and fall back to the previous two points.
  • If the station still can’t find the Proxy, go to “Android Log” and use “synthesisvr” as a filter.
  • Save and mail the output to info@synthesisvr.com

If you are experiencing sensible lag with the stream, to check your WiFi environment. Next to the Pico’s speed checking in-VR tool, you could also try speedtest.net and verify your WiFi bandwidth is enough. You can also use your WiFi router’s tools to scan for interference. Usually, changing the radio channel helps. Try multiple channels to find the one performing best. The streaming works well, but the controllers lag – this is because your CPU is topping up. Close any unnecessary CPU-consuming apps like AnyDesk. Please see the required network and PC specifications. Network Requirements: Neo 3 Pro supports Wi-Fi 6 ( 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and 2.4GHz/5GHz. Please enable 5G band when using wireless streaming. Also, please see the hardware and network requirements here. For the Network part, the requirements are as follows: Network port: Gigabit wired network port Router: 1 5G router (a gigabit network port is required) The network cables from the network port to the router and from the router to the computer need to be category 6 and above; I also encourage you to disable the firewall and use a standalone WiFi router for streaming. According to feedback from other clients. At 5GHz ~500Mbps, the HD quality runs well at 90Hz. The application frame rate is around 57 fps. Hope the information above helps. If the issue persists continue to diagnose.  Diagnose: Navigate to  C:\SynthesisVR Exclusive Content\4301\ on the station, and see if there is the updater executable file in there. If it is go ahead and click on it, the updater should run and update your version. Please also include the last 30 lines after the failed update attempt of the synthesis vr log found by right-clicking the synthesis logo in the system tray.  If the files are like the one below with no executable then the SynthesisVR Updater tool is falsely being detected as a virus by Microsoft Defender. Paste these commands without the quotes  “cd c:\Program Files\Windows Defender” (in the command prompt you can paste by just right-clicking) press enter.
